About

kidz4kolor.com is a blog (weblog) website aimed at kids of all ages (5 to 95) who are interested in art. And by art I mean - learning how to paint using oil, acrylic, watercolor, or pastels AND learning how to draw using pencil (graphite). Whether you are a seasoned veteran or a brand new artist, you will benefit from the instruction on this blog.

Bill Who?

Bill hard at work during one of his many demonstrations.

At work during one of my demonstrations.

That’s me, just to your left. I produce all of the content for the kidz4kolor blog. I’ve been working professionally in the art world for the past 30 years as a teacher, publisher, and artist. If you would like to learn more about my journey as an artist, you can find it under the “Life Story” tab on this blog. I’ve gone into a lot of detail about the successes and failures I’ve had along the way. If you’ve struggled in any way at all with your art or any part of your life, you’ll probably see a little bit of yourself in my story. And I hope you will also be encouraged!

Why I call this website kidz4kolor…

I like it.

It is a terrifying thing to try to name a website. You know what I mean if you’ve ever tried it. It’s got to be short. It’s got to be memorable. It’s got to attract search engines. It’s got to attract human visitors. It needs to capture a bit of who and what you are. You know the story.

Actually the name comes from a video I want to record, featuring 4 videos on one DVD for children’s art. Oil painting mainly. I’ve got all kinds of great ideas for it. Every other website name I tried to come up with just did not work. Bottom line: I like it.

It’s for a certain mentality.

This is the correct mentality...pass the cookies.

This is the correct mentality...pass the cookies.

I realize some people might think this is a website just for kids. Well it is. It’s just that there’s no age limit.

You know people who are old at 30. And you know some who are young at 90. That’s what I’m talking about. I’ve taught 8 year olds and 94 year olds. One couldn’t remember 9/11 and the other flew planes in WWII. But the one thing they had in common was their love for oil painting and their desire to improve.

You’ve got to be willing to fail and laugh at yourself. When you read my “life story” page, you’ll learn that my grandpa started really late in life with his oil painting. I was 4 when I started. We painted together. We both loved it.

So kidz4kolor it is. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it.
